Venous lake on my lip

I have this dark blue/purple lesion on my lip that keeps getting bigger. I went to see the dermatologist and she said that it's a venous lake. She said it was nothing I had to worry about. Does anyone else have one or know of someone who does? If so, what was your/their treatment?

U mite think this wierd but did u loose some weight, had one doctor tell me that it is a sign indicating that there's something wrong or that needs to be fixed with the larger intestine? Curious if it really is so?

I haven't lost any weight. I'm 5'1" and wear a size 2 or 4. I've never heard this before. I'd like to know if this is really true. I've seen 4 doctors about it and not one mentioned that a venous lake on the lip could indicate intestinal problems.

For exceptional treatment of venous lakes, Cutera's 1064 ND YAG laser works wonderfully and usually only one treatment is needed?

I would like to know too. I had Cynosure Cynergy laser in the 1064nm setting which, I've been told, is the same as the Cutera CoolGlide. It's still there, bigger and darker than when I started these treatments. In my previous post, I was asking about the recovery period. I will tell you that the VL lesion swelled up to the point it looked like it was going to pop. I was very worried. It started to recede by day 4 and within a couple of weeks it looked like it was getting smaller, receding and possibly disappearing all together. By week 4/week 5, it started to rear it's ugly head again but bigger and darker this time. A Physician's Assistant suggested the bulge could be due to scar tissue since I've had repeated laser treatments. I'm at a loss at this point. I think I'm going to try one more laser, either the Alexandrite (755 setting) or another 1064. If this doesn't work then I might have to go to plastic surgury. I began this journey with a flat light bluish spot on my lip that I could easily cover up and no one, or sometimes even I never noticed. I was trying to be proactive with a laser treatment and at this point it has caused more harm than good. I should have never done this. Also, for some reason I can't find a practitioner in the DC area that uses the Cutera Coolglide for Venous Lakes, only for laser hair removal. Any recommendations or advice is appreciated.

The Alex laser will NOT penetrate deep enough to get to the root of your venous lake so don't waste your time with it. Find a physician in your area who has a Cutera 1064 and go there. You can go to http://cutera.com/aesthetic-treatment-locator.php?PHPSESSID=cjhbsafr9j4nh77ij9e6bpe064 and locate a physician in your area. Keep in mind, the higher the wave length in a laser, the deeper it goes.

The Cynosure 1064 has no where near the power of the Cutera 1064. Cutera's 1064 is by far the most powerful on the market hands down! If anyone tells you the two or any are the same as Cutera's, they do not know what they are talking about.

really? You would think that 1064 wavelength would be the same regardless of the manufacturer. I understand you can adjust the settings for more energy. Sounds like you know more about these lasers specifically. Any additional information you could provide would be great.

The doctor I've been seeing has is well known, i.e. Dr. Oz show, Today show, has been published 60 + times in the area of lasers. I called one of the Dr's mentioned on this website and he was trained by her practice. I've questioned her about the Cutera and she ensures me that she adjusts the settings so it has the same energy. I've called a couple of the practitioners listed on the Cutera website but they don't use it for Venous Lakes. I'm a little worried going to someone who doesn't have specific experience with Venous Lakes on the lip.

thank you so much for your feedback.

No other laser can come close to the Cutera 1064. They all say that they can adjust their setting, but it still is not as powerful. Without getting too nmuch in to laser physics, the reason the Cutera has so much power is because they custom make their own power supply in-house. Every other 1064 is stacking pulses to try and come close to Cutera's 1064. It would be one pulse with the Cutera laser compared to several with other lasers. As I suggested before, go see a physician who uses a Cutera. Your physician may be a laser expert but there are thousands of laser experts. Cutera has some of the best in the world and has been featured on every television show there is.

I have an appointment with another laser dermatologist who uses the Cutera but the nurse says its the Varilite. Do you have any information on the Varilite? On the website, it looks like it's effective for Venous lakes as well.
