In this edition of EmpowHER's, "HER Daily Dose", Bailey Mosier talks about a study that reveals a simple solution for women to loose 5 pounds in six months.
Hi, I’m Bailey Mosier and this is your EmpowHER HER Daily Dose.
What if I told you there was a simple way you could shed five pounds over the next six months? Would you be interested and up for the challenge?
Researchers from the University of North Carolina found that people who drank water or diet beverages instead of calorie-laden drinks lost 4 to 5 pounds over a six-month span.
Researchers analyzed 300 overweight or obese people divided into three groups: those who switched to water, those who switched to diet soft drinks and a control group.
Over the six-month study, all three groups had small reductions in weight and waist circumference, But those who switched to calorie-free beverages were twice as likely to lose 5 percent or more of their body weight than those in the control group.
A simple way to shed a few pounds would be to substitute water for any high-calorie beverages you’re used to consuming, as researchers found people who did so lost up to 5 pounds in six months. But the strategy will only work if you’re not making up for those lost calories in some other way.
That wraps up your EmpowHER HER Daily Dose. Join me here at EmpowHER.com every weekday for your next dose of women’s health.
