Colleen recalls her reaction to hearing she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
Colleen:
I was shocked. And when I went into the hospital, my friend called, you know, I think we were both kind of going on the same line, and maybe I am having some small bowel problems or those kinds of things and it never, this diagnosis never occurred to me.
As a matter of fact, I'm an RN, and it never even occurred to me, and I really didn’t know that much about ovarian cancer, so that’s probably one of the reasons that I may be frustrated with myself that, but you know we specialize that much and so I don’t mean to, I am going off on all kinds of tangents, but I actually almost felt relieved that they found what was wrong with me. I knew something was wrong, and to think it, someone was trying to tell me I had diverticulitis did not make any sense, or just say, you know, "It’s just menopause types of symptoms that you’re having." I knew that that wasn’t the problem. I knew that there was something else going on.
So I kind of felt overwhelmed obviously, but at the same time I felt relieved, like okay, let’s get on it. What do I have to do? What do I have to go through? Tell me what the next step is.

Colleen, thank you so much for sharing your story, and your honest emotions along this journey. Your videos are interesting, informative and even inspirational, though I suspect you might be surprised at the latter. And women need to hear, over and over again, how they need to trust their intuition about their bodies, which is a large part of your message. Best of luck! And thanks again.
