Donna Simon, bariatric coordinator and dietitian at Banner Gateway Bariatric Center, talks about her clients for both LAP-BAND® surgery and gastric bypass surgery, as well as others interested in reclaiming a healthy body and lifestyle.

Education is an important accompaniment for the surgery if a patient is to be met with future success in keeping a healthy body weight. The Center holds classes. They offer manuals and handouts for patients to take home with them. The Center's doors are open for this five days a week.

This assistance is not limited to people who are eligible for bariatric (weight loss) surgery. Anyone who is making the effort to gain control of their health is welcome.

"We start them with an informational seminar, then we do a initial consult with our patients and then we start our weight loss program with them. In addition to that we encourage them to attend our support groups."
