Hi, I would like to know are their ways to bring down the DHEA levels naturally and safely? Is DHEA a hormone, organ or gland, what is it exactly? Having high DHEAS and test shows not normal what can I do about it? Please let me know.

Thanks,
Melissa

I do know that I can ask my doctor but such thing I'm asking you I don't know what it is exactly that's why I'm asking you so I know what it is. I don't know about steroid hormones if it's medication, injection etc. that's why I asked you. I do know since your saying such thing I would anyway have to ask my doctor about it.

Thanks,
Melissa

Thanks for your reply. When I talk to my doctor about this and if I mention about steroid hormone means she can give such thing to lower the DHEA? Please let me know.

Thanks,
Melissa

Hi Melissa6666,

Some are a class of chemicals that includes steroid hormones. It's still important to talk to your doctor on which treatment is best for you in lowering DHEA levels.

I see okay. Since your saying corticosteriods, opiates and danazol what are they and what do they do? Does it help lower the DHEA's? Are these the only options of lowering DHEA's? Please let me know.

Thanks,
Melissa

Hi Melissa6666,

Welcome to EmpowHER.  DHEA is an endogenous hormone (made in the human body), and secreted by the adrenal gland. DHEA serves as precursor to male and female sex hormones (androgens and estrogens). DHEA levels in the body begin to decrease after age 30, and are reported to be low in some people with anorexia, end-stage kidney disease, type 2 diabetes (non-insulin dependent diabetes), AIDS, adrenal insufficiency, and in the critically ill. DHEA levels may also be depleted by a number of drugs, including insulin, corticosteroids, opiates, and danazol.  It's best to talk to your doctor about your test results.  And he can advise you more on what to do.
