Had preaclampsia during pregnancy with severe headaches. Baby was delivered 2 months ago but the headaches continue. Have taken an average of 6-8 Advil a da for the past three days, Can this still be part of the preaclampsia condition?

Hi Anonymous,

Congratulations!

Your headaches can actually be attributed to a couple of things: this could be hormones, lack of sleep, low iron, dehydration, etc. I remember my post-partum heaches were definitely due to fatigue and lack of sleep.

If the headaches are very bad, please see your doctor so that s/he can best determine the cause. Seeing that you were released from the hospital, your blood pressure was likely normal at the time. So, unless it went back up, then I don't think the two are related. Like I said, though, you may want to get this checked out. A healthy mommy, means a happy baby.

Best Wishes,

Rosa
