Welcome to EmpowHer and Thank you for your question. It all depends what type of cancer is in your family history. While some cancers are Genetic, the majority are not! For instance, coming from a family with a breast cancer history like mines. I have always fear that it might be genetic and i have actually learned that only About 5% to 10% of breast cancers are thought to be hereditary, caused by abnormal genes passed from parent to child.
You should always talk to your doctor about your family history and know if there are any genetic testings you or your family can take.
