ask: Any good oncologists in the Seattle, WA area? My Aunt was just diagnosed with cancer

Hi there. My Aunt Betty, who is like a second mom to me, was just diagnosed with skin cancer. She lives near Seattle, Washington and is trying to get some recommendations for a good oncologist in her area. I live down in Oregon and am not sure of any myself, but since it's such a big city there has to be lots of really great places to get treatment. I've been coming to this site for awhile and I think it's really great the way we can all ask whatever question we want and I thought maybe someone here lives up that way. Her regular doctor gave her the diagnosis and has suggested someone to see now for treatment but she is looking for more choices so she can get a second opinion, etc., and see who she likes best. It can be a single doctor or a clinic, I'm just looking for info for her. Bless you all on here and what you are all doing. Thank you.

Hi there, Thanks so much for writing and I'm sorry to hear that your aunt was just diagnosed with cancer. One organization that may be able to provide some resources according to cancer.gov. is the the R. A. Bloch Cancer Foundation, Inc. According to the cancer.gov Web site, the foundation can refer cancer patients to institutions that are willing to provide multidisciplinary second opinions. A list of these institutions is available at http://blochcancer.org/2009/03/multidisciplinary-second-opinion-centers/ on the Internet. You can also contact the R. A. Bloch Cancer Foundation, Inc., by telephone at 816–854–5050 or 1–800–433–0464." You may also want to check out this link which has a wealth of resources regarding finding a doctor.

Finally, you may want to check in with Cancer Treatment Center of America which is one of our providers. It looks like they have a facility in the Renton area if you're interested.

Will you let us know your experience with this organization and please update us on your aunt's progress? Thank you.
