ask: Can I be pregnant?

I have been on my period for the past 2 months non-stop. A week ago my fiance and I were fulling around and he rubbed his penis on my clitoris but did not insert his penis into my vagina. I am still bleeding but I fear that I may be pregnant because I do not know when I would be ovulating. I also have the Implanon birth control, but because I have had my period for 2 months, I do not know if it is working. Could I be pregnant?

March 23, 2011 - 4:16pmIf I understand you correctly, you are having vaginal bleeding everyday for 2 months. This is not typical of a normal period. You need to be further evaluated by a healthcare professional.

I will be seeing my gynocoligist in about 3 weeks. I was recently in her office to discuss the bleeding and she thinks it is in reference to the Implanon Birth Control that I have and that there is not enough estrogen being released. But I know that it is possible for someone to get pregnant on there period. My concern is if the male did not insert his penis into the vagina and only rubbled the clitoris, is it possible for a women to get pregnant this way?
March 24, 2011 - 6:06amGenerally, if sperm is released either in an ejaculation or pre-ejaculation, and it comes in contact the woman's genital area and an egg has been released, pregnancy is possible. The sperm can "swim" past the clitoris into the vagina.

There are ovulation tests that you can purchase (at your local Pharmacy). You will have to keep up with your Gynecologist who is keeping an eye on your continuous bleeding. It appears that the Implanon Birth Control is causing the bleeding.
Unfortunately, there is no clear answer to find out when you are ovulating or if you could possibly be pregnant right now unless you try a pregnancy test. Studies on the Implanon Birth Control indicated that 1 in 10 women continuously bled and therefore stopped using the product….you can read more about it here http://www.implanon-usa.com/Consumer/index.asp?C=44637406277623611111.
