hi i was wondering what the reasons could be for my foot hurting. when i put pressure on my heel by standing on it or pressing on the inside left of my heel it causes a sharp pain to travel through the middle and top of my foot?

These symptoms are not typical of Plantar Fasciitis. With icing and rest for 2-3 days, if not better you should see a DPM(podiatrist) for X-rays and evaluation.

A bone spur or tendonitis could be the reason for your foot pain. A bone spur is a bony growth formed on normal bone. Bone spurs can form in the feet in response to tight ligaments.

The long ligament on the bottom of the foot called the plantar fascia can become stressed or tight and pull on the heel, causing the ligament to become inflamed. This condition is called plantar fasciitis. As the bone tries to mend itself, a bone spur can form on the bottom of the heel. This is also known as a "heel spur.

An x-ray of the foot can determine if you have a bone spur.
