Hi Anon

Thanks for your post!

When you say you are spotting with a bowel movement, are you meaning spotting blood?

There could be several reasons for this.

Firstly, it could be vaginal spotting - we wipe from front to back and some may drop into the bowl or on your toilet paper. Could this be the case?

One of the most common reasons for rectal bleeding is hemorrhoids. There can be a little bleeding - or quite a lot. You need to be checked to see if this is what is going on - hemorrhoids can be internal or external. A 10 second exam will let you know for sure.

You may also need a rectal exam to make sure you are healthy. Since you are 50 now, you should be getting a colonoscopy every ten years or more often if you have a family history of colon cancer.

Have you had one yet, Anon?

We hope to hear back from you!
