I have degenerative osteoarthritis of the facet joints in my back especially L2-5? What can you tell me about injections and other courses of treatment for the pain?

I also suffer with bulging discs and fibromyalgia and CFS. These tend to make treatment more complicated and I would like to know about the advantages and disadvantages of the injections. I just had 8 of them two weeks ago and they seem to have helped a great deal. I am due to get more later this week and am wondering if I should?

Hi Anonymous,
Thank you for your question and welcome to EmpowHer. I am sorry that you have been dealing with so much pain but certainly glad to hear that the injections appear to be helping you cope with the pain. On out site, we have a great advocacy sheet in regard to degenerative osteoarthritis and you can find this information here http://www.empowher.com/osteoarthritis/content/degenerative-arthritis-advocacy-sheet-0.

Here is another link that may help provide you additional information that you may ask your treating physician http://www.empowher.com/providers/article/fight-osteoarthritis-talk-your-doctor. As each individual may respond to different treatment options, it is certainly important for you to continue follow up with your physician to maintain a lifestyle that reduces your pain. Hopefully, the above information helps. Keep us posted.
