My mom is taking this and they did not tell her to take it on an empty stomach and wait 30 minutes before eating or drinking anything? What should she do?

Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER and thank you for reaching out to us with your concern for how your mother should take her dose of levothyroxine-liothyronine.

She should take the dose in the morning with water. Wait at least 30 minutes before consuming breakfast or her coffee if she adds milk. Calcium slows the absorption of levothyroxine, which is a synthetic version of T4, and liothyronine, which is a synthetic version of T3.

Regards,
Maryann
