Living with a neurogenic bladder?

Since cancer surgery, I am left with a neurogenic bladder and self cathing five times a day. How do you get through this along with night sweats and hot flashes and loss of sensation in the female area. So far, the oncologist says no vaginal cream.

Hi Anonymous

Thank you for your post and welcome!

I'm very sorry that you have had to go through cancer and now have to deal with this condition.

It sounds like due to your surgery, you are entering menopause, so is it safe to assume you had a hysterectomy?

Induced menopause is very hard on women. They do not have the perimenopausal symptoms that can help the transition. We have a very large section here on EmpowHER on menopause including remedies, articles and lots of threads started by women in your position. You can take a look at it here: http://www.empowher.com/menopause/content/lifestyle-remedies-menopausal-symptoms

I also think it'd be great to talk to members of our Menopause Group - you can join here: http://www.empowher.com/groups/menopause These women will be a good resource for you, and a good shoulder to lean on, too. Feel free to introduce yourself!
