I started the depo shot in january 2010 and was due to second shot in April but didnt get it. Ive been having unprotected sex with my husband and now Im feeling a little nausea, my tummy feels crampy and tight, breast are tender and sore, increase of sleepiness and minor lower. Is that pregancy syptoms or signs of my cycle returning?

Im currently taking prenatal vitamins and is schedule for a prenatal consult later this month. Also i feel like waves motions in my tummy from time to time. Could it be gas? I never felt that before. I have been having unprotected sex since my first depo shot back in January of this year.

That is great that you are going in to see your doctor later this month!
When was your last menstrual period?
The symptoms you are experiencing could be anything, and we don't know what it could be unless you could tell us more about when your last menstrual period occurred, when you are expecting your next period, and I'm assuming you are having regular, unprotected sex? You have not been using any form of birth control since February?

How long ago did you have unprotected sex?
Unfortunately, you won't be able to tell the difference between your symptoms until you've missed a period, or start your period. Pregnancy sympoms and premenstrual symptoms are almost identical, and since you've been using hormonal contraception previously, it may be trickier to know since you haven't had a regular period since you've stopped taking the Depo.
As far as your symptoms, it takes 10-14 days for a fertilized egg to implant (and, thus, for a viable pregnancy to begin) after you ovulate. You can take a home pregnancy test after this time has passed, and if it reads negative and you still have no period, try another test a week later.
Does this help?

Great news! It sounds like you are able to start trying to conceive, but you may want to call you doctor's office to ask if they like to see women beforehand for a checkup to get a baseline health status, provide information about a healthy pregnancy, talk with you about prenatal vitamins, etc. If this is not something your OB/GYN does, let us know if you have any questions!

Hello, Anon.
Test for pregnancy.
It's important to get the Depo shots on time as recommended and not later for full protection against pregnancy.
