Q:

My body lately develops rashes around my legs and body for no reason. I went to the doctor and he said it's allergies due to temperature. I don't know why this is happening during the mornings or at night. Is there a way to cure this?

Hi, I had a similar problem, developing in my mid-20s or so, coming and going, sometimes more intense than others. I, too, was often told that it was just a heat rash or contact dermatitis (unlike the link to the chilblains article above, my rash was midly to severely itchy, never painful). A few months ago I was urged to eliminate wheat from my diet and the rashes have disappeared (after 20yrs or so, I'm now 44). I do not have celiac's disease, just a wheat allergy of sorts that appears to have caused the allergies. I do still occassionally partake of a homemade brownie, and the rash will reappear by the next morning.

Hi Anonymous

I'm not sure exactly what you are talking about, but it reminds me a bit of chilblains. Mayo Clinic has an article on chilblains: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/chilblains/DS01091.

I'm not certain if that is what you are describing. Did your doctor give you a more specific diagnosis than allergies? If you can give us more specific wording we may be able to find some information for you.

Thanks for writing.
