Over dosage of Postinor 2

I took both pills in one dosage, is this dangerous or less effective? Also, what are the usual side effects after taking the pills and how soon after? I took the pills about a 17 days ago and now I'm spotting ( not heavy but blood is present). Could this be a side effect?

the drug was taken within 74 hours after intercourse, but the interval between the first pill taken and the second is 13 hours. would that be a problem?

Hello Anonymous,

The manufacturer of the emergency contraceptive offers the efficacy of the pill when it is taken as directed. Logically, the longer the interval between unprotected sex and taking the pill, the decrease in how effective it will be.

It is estimated that Postinor-2 will prevent 85% of expected pregnancies. 95% of expected pregnancies will be prevented if taken within the first 24 hours, declining to 58% if taken between 48 hours and 72 hours after unprotected intercourse.

It is not known whether Postinor-2 is effective if taken more than 72 hours after unprotected intercourse.

Hello Anonymous,

Unless you have a very short menstrual cycle, like a 22 day cycle, you would not be ovulating one week after you finished your period. Therefore, there really is no need to take an emergency contraceptive.

If you have already taken the emergency contraceptive, you can expect to have breakthrough bleeding, which is bleeding between your last period and your next monthly period.

One side effect of the pill is a change in the menstrual cycle. Your next period could start earlier or later than expected and flow can be lighter or heavier than normal.

Hope this is helpful to you.

Hello mary12345,

Why did you take six tablets of Postinor 2?

The instructions are to take two tablets of Postinor 2 within 120 hours or 5 days of unprotected sexual intercourse.

Please contact your doctor about this. You are not at risk for pregnancy but serious side effects of taking too much.

Regards,
Maryann

If people take other supplement less than 2 hour she took the first pill of postinor, is there any probability of getting pregnant? The next pill will be taken at 12 hours after first pill. Any idea?
