I had unprotected sex a few times, he pulled out..but I have been having strange symptoms..that when I checked online all were the same or similar to early signs of pregnancy.

Also around two weeks ago, after I had sex (I thik it was the morning after but can't be 100%)..when I went to the bathroom, when I wiped, there was a very stretchy, clear odourless discahrge that had a slight pink twinge to it..after reading online I am thinking maybe this was showing me I was fertile??

The real question here is yesterday I was 2 days late, but yesterday morning I started what I thought was my period..but it was very thick and dark brown. Today I have bled heavily but the blood is very very dark and has lots of clots.

..could I be pregnant??

EDIT - There are very dark red, almost black coloured bogey type substance..are these clots?

look for signs and try not to stress that could delay your period if you are not preg and then make things worse. You can get a more sensitive pregnancy test like First Response or Clear blue. This allows you to test 4-5 days prior to when your period would start. Another option would be to go see the doctor and do a blood test. This is even more sensitive however best just to
wait it out like the rest of us ;) Wait until your are a few days away from your AF and then take a sensitive test. Take it first thing in the morning as the HCG levels are highest at that point. In the meantime take care of your body and take a multi-vitamin that has folic acid. This will help your baby's developing spine (if you are pregnant). It will not hurt you if you are not. Always good to take care of your body at any rate ;)

Please continue taking your birth control pills. Your symptoms are more than likely PMS and not pregnancy but you probably took a pregnancy test too early, if you are still a week away from your expected period date. The earliest you should take is 3-5 days before your expected period.

Why do you think you may be pregnant? If you took your Pills as prescribed, then it's extremely unlikely that you could be pregnant. Did you miss a Pill?

Thank you for your post. You are right, that if a woman suspects she is pregnant, and is experiencing bleeding of any type, she needs to talk with her doctor right away, as it could be called a "spontaneous abortion" (more commonly referred to as a "miscarriage") or "loss of pregnancy".

Wilkai ...and anybody else with heavy clotted bleeding when pregnancy is expected....please visit a doctor...you could be having a 'missed abortion'. This is when the foetus has been aborted due to any reason within the womb...the uterus starts expelling the aborted foetus...clots, heavy bleeding and a period that lasts longer than 10 days, altogether are signs.

You can really take the test anytime. By this time, if you were pregnant you would have enough of the pregnancy hormone in your blood -- it is called HCG -- to detect it. But if you want, you can wait until first thing in the morning, so you'd have an even higher concentration in your urine.

You shouldn't feel guilty. He SHOULD be a little worried, because he, too, had unprotected sex, and he, too, could be dealing with an unexpected pregnancy. It's ok that you are keeping to yourself until you're sure.

And it may be nothing, but it seems to me that it might worry you until you know for absolutely, positively sure. Am I right? In that case, it will be a few dollars well-spent.

Yes I think you're right..thank you ever so much..

..One last thing - if this is my period when is best to actually take the test??

Hi, Wilkai. Thanks for your answers.

It seems impossible to tell right now -- for absolute sure -- what's going on. I would have to say that my instinct would still be to tell you that you're not pregnant, due to the amount of bleeding you've had and the fact that it's right about the time your period should come.

The sickness may be unrelated -- you might be getting a flu bug at the same time you're worried about pregnancy.

Or they could, possibly, be related, and you could possibly be pregnant. Can you buy a home pregnancy test and test to find out for sure?
