hi, iv recently found out im pregnant for the third time, my last two pregnancies ended in misscarrages at 4 months. I have a family history of misscarages and still births. I was wondering and hoping that theres things that can prevent me from losing the baby, iv heard about something called a stitch and my mum had hormone injections through her pregnancy with me, as she had 3 misscarages before having me.

Hi Jennifer,

I am so sorry to hear about your miscarriages. The problem with coming up with a specific solution to miscarriages are that sometimes they happen for no apparent reason at all and cannot be stopped.

On the other hand, there are times that genetic makeup (such as the way the sperm interacts with your egg) that will cause miscarriages. There are also problems with hormone issues and possibly an infection.

Here is a link to more information about miscarriages from the American Pregnancy Association http://www.americanpregnancy.org/pregnancycomplications/miscarriage.html.

In your case, I would keep in close contact with your treating physician as they should have your history and may be able to help in the cause of your miscarriages. Can you keep us updated on what your physician tells you?

Good luck!
