I had posted this question earlier, but didn't know if it went through b/c my computer was acting up. If you see it twice, that is why. My question is has anyone experienced lying on your back or side and suddenly having to wake up gasping for your breath? I am on blood pressure medicine and aspirin but no longer take Metoprolol as of November because my blood pressure had dropped, so my doctor is trying something different. However,.I did take half of Metoprolol tonight due to these symptoms. Hopefully you understand my description because this is new to me; i find myself loosing a lot of sleep. I wanted to post this question first before calling my doctor.

Hi carame11,

If you're having difficulty breathing while you're laying down, this could be due to lack of oxygen supply to the heart and indicative of heart disease. When you're lying down, your heart muscle needs to work harder to pump blood and oxygen through your body. With heart disease, you may also become short of breath with mild exertion as well. High blood pressure or irregular heart rhythms can be warning signs, especially if they accompany your breathing difficulties.

Please schedule an appointment with your doctor as soon as you can.

Best,

Rosa
