Tightness due to swelling after double mastectomy

Had a dbl mastectomy Nov 29 and repeated infections all treated with wrong antibiotics. Finally got blood work swab and new meds seem to help. Was draining up to 1 litre serrous fluid up to Jan 13 but nurses instructed to stop. Last antibiotic Jan 15. now waiting to see if open wound which was packed dailing will now heal. Fear colonization on bacteria on expander = removal. Getting a row of swelling above incision, looks healthy & skin very stretched. Is this normal as I have yet to experience normal. Thanks

Hi Anonymous

Thank you for your post and welcome!

I'm sorry you have not only been through a double mastectomy but also these chronic infections on top of it all.

Your new swelling could be any number of things. It could mean infection, the site may be filling with fluid. It's good that the skin is looking healthy but your symptoms still warrant a call to the doctor. Do you have any redness/soreness or itchiness?
Please put a call in and get back to us- if the swelling came out of the blue and has not gone down it needs to be examined. I hope to hear back from you soon,
