Hello and thank you in advance to all who try to help =)

I had my tubes tied after my last pregnancy (17 months ago) and since then I have not paid much attention to what day of the month my period starts. I do know I had my period in February (my guess is I started on the 14th or 21st - it was a Sat. and towards the later part of the month) and it's now going on April and I have not had a period. I know it's very unlikely that I could get pregnant after having my tubes tied BUT I conceived my three boys extremely easily. I'm just a fertile mertile ;) So, I do not doubt my bodies ability to get pregnant. I did take a pregnancy test last thursday (March 26) and it was negative. I don't currently have health insurance, if I did I would just make an appt to see my Doctor. What are your thoughts? Think I could be pregnant? FYI my periods are never late. If anything they come early and they last abour 7-8 days (ugh!!).

Thanks!!
~ K

P.S. If I were indeed pregnant would I get a positive pregnancy test if it was an ectopic pregnancy?

Hello Anonymous,

First, take a home pregnancy test. If you get a negative result, consult your gynecologist. The potential for conceiving after a tubal ligation depends on the method used to "tie" the fallopian tubes. Your doctor is the person to consult.

I'm 28 years old. I had my tubes tied 4 years ago and have always had regular periods... I had a period as usual last month but I have not had a period this month no spotting no nothing. My breasts are sore and I have felt nausuas from time to time. I have never missed a whole month for a period. I don't know if I'm pregnant? I took a pregnancy test a few days ago and it was negative. But I know its likely to have an ectopic pregnancy with your tubes tied. Any concerns what should I do??

Hi ladies. I am 24 years old and had my tubes clipped October 10th. Had normal periods and then they stopped now I am late 6 days. I was sick feeling in the mornings, cramping, and headaches but thought I was getting my period but nope still don't. Can you get pregnant a month after surgery? I have a daughter who turned 1 November 11th and a son turning 4 November 29th. If I am I'll accept it but just wondering what I should do...
Can you get a positive test if etopic pregnancy?

I am 33 years old, I had my tubes tied about 7 1/2 years ago. My last period was towards the end of September, and was shorter then normal and lighter. My cycles are quite normal and at the very end of October/beginning of November I had spotting instead of a period. Brown in color. I have been experiencing symptoms of pregnancy, I had a pregnancy test done about 2 weeks ago and it was negative. I'm still worried I may be pregnant.

Hi Anonymous,

I think you need to consult your gynecologist. A sudden change in your normally regular menstrual cycle must be evaluated. Your gynecologist can order a blood pregnancy test and an ultrasound to determine if you are indeed pregnant.
