VIDEO - HERSTORY: Joanna Shares What Women Should Know About Uterine Fibroids

Joanna explains what she has learned about uterine fibroids.

Joanna:
I think that it has to do with a hormonal imbalance from the research that I have done. I have read that it’s too much estrogen produces fibroids. Me personally, I have gone the naturopathic route and have been meeting with a naturopath to get my estrogen levels in check. Since I have done this, my uterine fibroid has not grown any. It actually has shrunken a little bit.

I did do some, a naturopathic technique where they actually have electrodes go over my stomach. It sounds very funky, but to see if it could shrink the fibroid. It actually apparently is very good for endometriosis, and that plus the estrogen supplements may have been the reason why my fibroid shrunk a tiny bit. But obviously it wasn’t anything that was going to dramatically shrink it, which I knew going into it, and my naturopath told me the odds were very slim that it would really do that, but I was glad that I tried to do that.

So my concern is after the surgery to make sure that my hormone levels are in check, to do everything that I can to try and prevent more uterine fibroids because I believe from what I have read and my experience that having a hormone level that is in balance will help me in dealing with this issue in the future.
