VIDEO - HERSTORY: Laura Shares When She Decided To Have Bariatric Surgery

Laura discusses when she decided to have bariatric surgery and describes her experience with bariatric surgeon Dr. Shyam Dahiya.

Laura:
I first realized that I needed help about two years ago. I never knew bariatric surgery was an option. I have a friend at work whose wife had bariatric surgery and she only had about 150 pounds to lose, and that’s when I found out it was an option for me.

So, I got on the Internet, and I, by luck, found Dr. Dahiya’s name because there’s many doctors out there. And I went to what, they had a group meeting at the time down in Newport Beach, and I went down there, and I met with him there. And he kind of went through, with all of us, other patients, the pros, the cons of having the surgery, the different surgeries that are available, and, you know, from that point I set up an appointment to start having all of my testing done to see if I would be a candidate and to see if my insurance would cover.

And then I ended up having to have gall bladder surgery first. I had that done, and I was really positive about getting the surgery. I couldn’t wait to get the surgery done and set up my surgery for November, and it’s been the easiest thing I have done, really easy, as far as all diets. I mean, it’s life changing, but it has been so worth it.
