When you're pregnant, people probably tell you to eat for both you and the baby so that you have a healthy pregnancy and delivery. Sometimes, these bits of advice aren't always clear. Just because you're pregnant doesn't mean that you should eat everything in front of you or that you should sit around without any kind of exercise during the day.
Enjoy Small Meals
Instead of eating a few larger meals during the day, eat five or six smaller meals. You won't feel full as fast as you would when you eat larger meals, which can give the baby a bit more room to move around and help with feelings of nausea. Try to get a few different food groups into the meals that you eat, such as dairy, fruits, and vegetables. Avoid a lot of carbohydrates as they can cause a significant weight gain and tend to put extra weight on the baby than what is needed. Try not to eat a lot of sugary foods or drink a lot of sodas while pregnant as you want to eat healthy for the baby.
Move Around Carefully
There's no reason why you need to lounge around without getting any kind of movement during the day unless the doctor puts you on bed rest. Taking a nice walk during the day or stretching can help to loosen some of the muscles in the body to prepare for delivering the baby. However, if the doctor sees something that could potentially cause fetal distress and doesn't tell you about it, then you should contact an attorney as this could lead to a C-section or other health issues.
Get Some Sleep
When your baby arrives, it might be hard to get sleep. Take short naps during the day to replenish energy that you lose. Talk to your doctor about solutions available if you have trouble sleeping at night, especially in the later stages of pregnancy. A large body pillow can sometimes take pressure off the stomach, making it a little more comfortable to sleep.
Stop Smoking and Drinking
If you smoke and drink, now is a good time to stop. Your baby does everything that you do, which includes getting the nicotine from smoking and the alcohol from drinking. Focus your energy and time on getting the nursery ready or taking childbirth classes to keep your mind off these activities.
One of the things that you hear when you're pregnant is that you need to live a healthier lifestyle. You do want to eat right and get the right amount of exercise so that it's easier to deliver your baby and so that your baby is healthy. Talk to your doctor about any concerns as well as other professionals or those who are close to you if there are any concerns.
