Lola,

That's a really good question and EmpowHer will start looking into that for you.

Are you open to alternative fertility treatments which also have very good success rates? Like Traditional Chinese Medicine?

To get you on your road to fertility I've included 3 EmpowHer radio shows (which we haven't gone live with, but it's important for us that you get started), information from our fertility expert Dr. Dao and the name of his book which could help you. Just click on this link.

Lola, please make sure you listen to Dr. Dao's audio shows with EmpowHer's Founder Michelle King Robson. In Dr. Dao's shows you'll hear lots of proactive steps you can start taking right now. He's a 38th generation doctor of Chinese Medicine and the fertility expert to many Hollywood stars.

In the meantime, we'll see what we can uncover in the Detroit area.

Enjoy your fertility journey and let me know if the shows were helpful.

Lola,

There are a lot of fertility experts that provide payment plans or financing packages.

THE SECRET:
You already know the secret because you used it here on EmpowHer. All you have to do is ASK.

STEP #1: Put together a list of fertility experts your friends have used/recommended and use Google to find their phone numbers.

THE NATIONAL INFERTILITY ASSOCIATION SAYS:
"Don't be afraid to ask the doctor's office if they offer any payment plans for your treatment. In some cases the office staff is so involved in the medical aspects of your treatment that they may not consider the financial aspect or that you may need assistance budgeting for your treatment expenses."

STEP #2: On Monday call your favorite Detroit area fertility doctors and ASK if they provide payment plans or financing packages.

STEP #3: Fear Not! Do not be afraid of the word "no". It's not a sign you are not worthy, it's a sign you are getting closer to finding the perfect doctor that's going to help you become the mommy you were meant to be.

You'll be surprised what you discover just by ASKING.

STEP #4 - EMPOWHER OTHER WOMEN:
Then come back to EmpowHer and SHARE what you've discovered. Click here to SHARE what you've learned with other women who are in your shoes.

TODD'S PERSONAL STORY:
Lola, I'm dealing with a heart condition right now. One of my doctors was charging me $400 per visit and I was paying out of pocket at the time. So when the doctor was in the room with me I asked him, if he'd consider reducing the cost since I was paying out of pocket. He look at me and simply replied, "of course". The cost of the visit was reduced $340 to $60, which I could afford. Also, I suspect the doctor enjoyed feeling like he was doing a good deed. In hindsight Lola, the hardest part was being afraid to ASK. Fear not!

If you have another question please ASK.

Wishing you fertility & EmpowHer-ment.

Hi Lola
Thank you for your question.

There are organizations that offer loans for fertility treatments and it also may be possible to partake in a study that also provides fertility treatment.

Bear in mind the risks involved with studies or any kind of experimentation, as well as loan clauses, interest, and the fine print attached.

Many hospitals and clinics offer monthly payment plans.

The University of Michigan conducts studies frequently, you could begin your search here: www.med.umich.edu

Michelle King Robson

Hi Lola,

I'm sorry you're so frustrated by the system. I'm sure there are doctors that will allow you to make payments. First, you want to identify the doctor who has the best track record for getting women pregnant.

Todd, has given you some great advice as well. The key is, to advocate for yourself and as Todd said, don't be afraid to ask.

-Read as much information as you can get your hands on.
-Ask as many women as you can, who they think is the best fertility specialist in your area.
-Start calling those fertility doctors to see if they will agree to some form of monthly payments
-Find out their track record...what's their success rate

Thanks for coming to EmpowHer to Ask your question. You are headed in the right direction, Lola.

Good luck and let us know if there is something else we can help you with.

Best in health,

Michelle

I don't know how far along you are into your fertility quest, but if you are looking into getting procedures done, many people now are going overseas to save $. I cannot speak to the quality of this care, though. Here is an article about this from msnbc: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19100571/
