My health issues started at 40 when I had my gallbladder removed - it took 6 years to figure out what was going on. I had gastrointestinal issues after the surgery that were diagnosed at Irritable Bowel that are still with me, I started having heart palpitations and would wake up in the middle of the night gasping - after a trip to the ER with no discernable diagnosis - I started the rounds of the "ologists" - making a long story shorter - I was finally diagnosed with Sleep Apnea and Supraventricular Tachycardia - the SVT was solved with a procedure after 3 ER visits that got closer and closer toogether and the Sleep Apnea - well we're still trying to resolve because the Insurance company didn't think it was severe enough to warrant a home C-PAP - how badly do you need to stop breathing before it's covered?!

susan59, thanks for sharing your story. As you know a good night's sleep is so important to our heart health and overall health. Did you doctors mention the SVT was a possible result of sleep apnea? And while I'm happy you were able to get some sort of diagnosis, sometimes it feels like medicine treats our symptoms rather than the cause. What procedure did you have for the SVT?
