I’ve yet to meet someone who doesn’t list pizza as one of their favorite foods. Warm, crispy, cheesy, and loaded with flavor, it’s easy to see why. As delicious as pizza may be, it doesn’t always rank high on the list of diet-friendly foods.

Not any more. Try one of these six healthy alternatives for a waistline-friendly pizza pie.

Pita Pizza
For an easy weekday lunch, dinner, or even breakfast, a pita pizza is a belly-friendly alternative. Top with tomato sauce, low-fat cheese, and fresh veggies for an easy meal. Top with a scrambled or fried egg for a balanced breakfast.

Pre-made Dough
Found in the refrigerator section of most grocery stores, ready-made raw pizza dough is a great alternative for the more culinarily inclined. It's available in whole wheat and original crusts. Drizzle with olive oil and top with fresh veggies or even fruit for a meal fit for company.

Low Carb Eggplant Crust
For those living la vida low-carb, thinly slice an eggplant and broil or barbeque it for a crisp base for a pizza. Top with marinara sauce, mozzarella, and basil for an Italian classic.

English Muffin
A classic kid meal, there’s nothing more comforting and delicious than an English muffin pizza. Toast an English muffin with marinara and a slice of cheddar for a quick ‘n’ easy snack. Throw in some spinach or broccoli for an extra boost of fiber.

Portabella Pizza
Another fast fix for the low-carb lovers, a toasted portabella mushroom is a flavorful base for all your favorite pizza fixings. Top a ’shroom with marinara, mozzarella, black olives, sausage or pepperoni, and roasted garlic and bake at 375 for twenty minutes.

A classic, easy store-bought alternative, Boboli pizza crusts are a blank palette to get creative and healthy with. Available in thin, whole wheat, and original crusts, and quick to make, they’re the perfect pantry staple to keep ready for a last minute meal.
