Wendy discusses how talking with other women helps her cope with alopecia.

Wendy:
One of the ways I feel comfortable in my own skin has actually been reaching out to other people via a website called alopeciaworld.com.

I just Goggled alopecia one day and Alopecia World came up and lo and behold, there is this social network for alopecians, as we are called, that I discovered.

And through Alopecia World I connected with one particular woman and she and I shared our different experiences and how she deals with her loss of hair is quite different than the way I have dealt with it.

And we compared our stories and she won’t go out of the house without her hair on, as we like to call it, but she doesn’t care about whether she has any face on, as I call it.

So she won’t go out of the house without a hair on and doesn’t care about the face.

I won’t go out of the house without a face on but I’ll go out in the world and go to the gym with a hat on my head.

So we are really different in that way. So it’s actually fun connecting with other people with alopecia because we all deal with it so differently and we can all help each other in very different ways.
