Dr. Ring:
Gestation is really one of the most vulnerable periods in a person’s life and it’s when the brain is developing, when all of the organs are developing and one of the main concerns is that if the mother is exposed to toxins that then get into the formation of the child, that that can then lead to both consequences when the baby is born, developmental delays and other sorts of issues, as well as become something that becomes part of their gene line and gets passed down through generations.
So it’s really a critical period and pregnant women are one of the most vulnerable populations in terms of avoiding toxins. That being said, it is also not recommended for any woman who is pregnant or beast feeding to do a detoxification diet because that release of toxins that can occur, if you start trying to draw them out, will preferentially go to the breast milk or will go to the growing infants.
So the best advice I have for a woman who is pregnant or breastfeeding is just to avoid pesticides, avoid exposure to chemicals, don’t microwave things in plastic and things like that. So just try to avoid your toxic load that you are taking into your body.
