Terry recalls her experience with the uterine artery embolization procedure.
Terry:
The procedure wasn’t scary as I thought it was going to be, and even though I had two other, I had two friends who had it. I had actually a cousin who had the embolization, and my sister had the embolization. I was lucky because they found my fibroids early. They weren’t that huge, and so the embolization was able to cut off the blood supply to the fibroids so that they would shrink. And eventually Dr. McLucas was able to take them out completely, which was the best case scenario, which was a huge success.
What was the procedure like? It was scary, but it was one of the best things I have ever done, especially because the recovery wasn’t bad at all, you know. It is minimally invasive. I have a tiny scar in my belly button that no one can see. So and on a cosmetic level, it’s hard because you are talking about women and their uterus, and that’s something very private, very intimate. And so it was something that was so minimally invasive that I said, I am only going to be gone from work not very long, and the recovery was pretty fast.
