Kathryn Joosten was a two-time Emmy-winning actress who played the grouchy Karen McCluskey on ABC's Desperate Housewives . She had also played recurring roles on Joan of Arcadia and West Wing.

Joosten died June 2, 2012 after an 11-year battle with lung cancer. She was 72 years old.
