Q:

Are there chances of pregnancy from wipes which were used to clean a little bit of semen from hand and the vagina?

Hi. I and my boyfriend didn't have any sexual intercourse. But the wet wipe he used to clean a little bit of semen in his hand was used by me to clean my vagina accidentally. I have an average cycle of about 35days and I was on my 24th day. Though I had taken the morning after pill, are there any chances of pregnancy as I don't know whether I was ovulating or ovulation was over during that time.

Hello ilambtful,

Welcome to the EmpowHER community. Thank you for reaching out to us with your question.

The morning after pill prevents pregnancy by preventing ovulation. If you had not yet ovulated on day 24 of your menstrual cycle, the pill should have worked.

Using the same wipe with semen on it did pose a risk, especially if you ovulated that day or five days prior.

If you do not have any bleeding within three weeks of taking the ECP, test for pregnancy.

Regards,
Maryann
