Hi , me and my boyfriend had sexual intercourse around the beginning of this month maybe a day after my period. We didn't use protection. This last time that we had sex which was about a week ago I experienced a pink/brown mucus for only a short period of time. This have never happened before and I was just wondering if I should be concerned or is this normal?

Thank you for getting back to me. We had unprotected sex twice on the day after my period and then we did again about three weeks later. My periods are irregular so I never know when I will start until it's time. I noticed the bleeding this last time that we had sex , it didn't last long though.

Hello alex98,

Welcome to the EmpowHER community. I am glad you reached out to us with your concern about the pink/brown discharge.

Did you have unprotected sex twice, once a day after your period ended and again one week ago?

How long did you notice this discharge? Was it for about two to three days? Or just one day?

If you noticed this after intercourse at the beginning of this month, it might have been some residual from your period.

If your next period is late by at least one week, test for pregnancy. Having unprotected sex carries the risk of becoming pregnant. I would be concerned that this pink/brown mucus might have been implantation bleeding.

Regards,
Maryann
