Hi, im 22 me and my boyfriend were making out and he touched me on top of my very wet panties with his hands, I Dont know if there was any semen at all because he touched his penis before he touched me to fix it on his jeans, but he said there was nothing there because he didnt come yet at that time. I'm 3 weeks late now about 4 weeks on my period and i had a home pregnancy test that came out negative after 21 days of the sexual act. Im freaking out stressing about this. Plz tell me if i have any chance i could be pregnant.. Im really freaking out. We didnt even have sex since we're both r virgins ..but im afraid there were something on his hands. I touched them they were freaking dry .

Hello dadati73,

Welcome to the EmpowHER community. Thank you for coming to us with your concern about having become pregnant.

There was no risk for pregnancy because there was no penetration with ejaculation. You are at risk if you have unprotected vaginal intercourse, where his penis enters your vagina and he ejaculates.

I am concerned that your period is three weeks late. Stressing out can cause a delay.

dadati73, before this has your menstrual cycle been regular?

Regards,
Maryann

Hi MAryann,
Thank u for answering my question, i took another home pregnancy test this morning and it came out also negative .. As for answering ur question, yes my period was kinda regular, beside when i had my exams last april , it kinda got delayed by 2 weeks. I know I might not be pregnant now im sure since the pregnancy test this morning is negative. My question is how can stress affect my period? And if so can it delay it for one whoke month? Thank u for ur time Maryann

Hello dadti73,

Stress is considered to be a common cause of missed or late menstrual periods.

In the normal stress response, your hypothalamus, a tiny region at the base of your brain, sets off an alarm system in your body. Through a combination of nerve and hormonal signals, this system prompts your adrenal glands, located atop your kidneys, to release a surge of hormones, including adrenaline and cortisol.

Adrenaline increases your heart rate, elevates your blood pressure and boosts energy supplies. Cortisol, the primary stress hormone, increases sugars (glucose) in the bloodstream, enhances your brain's use of glucose and increases the availability of substances that repair tissues.

Cortisol also curbs functions that would be nonessential or detrimental in a fight-or-flight situation. It alters immune system responses and suppresses the digestive system, the reproductive system and growth processes. This complex natural alarm system also communicates with regions of your brain that control mood, motivation and fear.

So, high cortisol levels essentially shut down or suppresses the menstrual cycle because it is not considered to be an essential function.

Hope this is helpful.

Hi Maryann
The pregnancy test I Took yesterday , I checked it out again this morning and it was weird looking, lol like if there's another line showing up if u look reeeal close, but yesterday when I Took it it was only one line. I'm so confused, like really I dont understand because we didnt even have sex. as i said he only touched me with his hands on my wet panties, and i really dont know if there was any semen at all on his hands they didnt look wet or anything. And by the way, IVe been having a white stiky discharge on and off since my missed period. I was thinking maybe its my ovulation trying to figure out itself but it just on and off. Please what should I do, im quiet embarrassed now to keep telling my boyfriend no im pregnant..I just told him yesterday i am not because i took that test,he's sweet and suportive and everything, but ive been so moody lately , i dont want him to think im crazy. What should be our next step? Please help me release this stress its killing me. If i was pregnant I would be 4 weeks now, so is it normal for a test to be faint at this point or it would be so dark that i wouldnt get confused? Thank u so much

Hello dadati73,

First off, disregard what you saw when you looked at the test strip this morning, which was a day later. You have to go with the results you see two minutes after you have placed the test stick on a flat surface.

Indeed, if you were pregnant for four weeks you would have gotten a positive result the first time.

Only you can relax and stop thinking that you are pregnant.
There was never a risk.

Maryann

Hello maryann,
I have some update, yesterday, i felt a cramp on the left side of my pubic area, it lasted the whole day, it would only stop for few min and come back again . The pain is not super bad but also its not like my period cramp because i can only feel this on my left pubic side.. Still no period yet, i have white distcharge now and then and i pee a lot, am i PMS'ing or could this be a signe of an ovarian cysist? My period is 1 month late now and pregnancy test negative. Thank u for ur time Maryann it really means for me a lot
