Q:

Could I be pregnant?

Hi
My last menses was on 26th dec so I was ovulating on the 9-12 of jan, I had some abdominal pains on the 9th jan and was diagnosed with UTI (I personally suspect the pain came cos I had started ovulating). I had intercourse the next day which was the 10th. I am expecting my period on 26 jan but since 19th jan I have been feeling very tired, my boobs size have increased and have been so sore that I just remove my bra when I head to bed, my appetite increased to that of two, I have headaches throughout the day and occasionally feel dizzy and light headed, I urinate a lot through the day and I just couldn't sleep well even if i didn't have to urinate I would wake up in the middle of the night thinking that the alarm didn't sound and that I was late for work, my emotions are going crazy and I could even smell my husband's dirty sock which I don't usually notice. I took a home pregnancy test yesterday but it turned out negative. Today I started having cramps, when I visited the ladies I noticed a single light pink/ brown spot then when I went again there was this bright pink/reddish brown blood. It is still 3 days before my expected period. I have never experienced any nausea or vomiting. I have never had any premenstrual symptoms before so I really think that I am pregnant (have this really really strong gut feeling). Could I be pregnant just that the hcg in my urine wasn't enough when I tested?

Thanks in adv =)

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER and thank you for coming to us with your concern.

I suggest you wait and see if you start your period in the next three days. If you do not, retest and for the most accurate result, test as soon as you wake up in the morning.

It takes about 6 to 12 days following conception for implantation to happen. Once it occurs, cells that will form the placenta produce hCG. Levels can be detected in urine about 12 to 14 days following conception.

Regards,
Maryann

Thanks maryann! I am having really light bleeding following yesterdays spotting. Usually my period would start with little bleeding then over night it would have developed into heavy flow but right now its still light bleeding. Guess the only way to find out is to wait and see. Thanks for your help! :)
