I have been using the Instead SoftCup for almost 8 months. This month I finally believe something went wrong. I cannot remove it. It feels suctioned up or something. I cannot feel the rim of the ring. I am scared. I do not know what to do. I would really rather avoid the emergency room. How do I take care of this issue??

Hi,
I am so sorry you are having difficulty removing the cup. In order to remove the cup you need to relax as much as possible. I know this can be scary but when you tense up, your vaginal muscles also tense up which makes it hard to remove Softcup. Relax as much as possible and squat low over the toilet or ground. Once you are in this position, bear down as though you are having a bowel movement. This should push the cup forward enough for you to hook your finger under (or over if thats easier) the rim. Pull slowly and keep the cup as level as possible. Many women have reported getting into a hot bath helps to further relax them. While this situation is not ideal, know that after selling 150 million Softcups, there has never been an instance of Toxic Shock Syndrome. Hopefully this fact will help you to relax more.

Hi Anon,
Welcome to EmpowHER and thanks for your question. Here are some tips on the removal of the Softcup. To remove the Softcup we recommend sitting on the toilet with your knees apart. Insert your finger into the vagina and locate the pubic bone; the Softcup rim will be right behind it. If you push or "bear down" with your muscles, that will help push the Softcup down to more easily reach it. Softcup cannot be lost inside your body. Removing Softcup can be awkward until you have some practice. Remain relaxed for easy removal. Some women find that crouching in a warm shower makes removal easier because they are relaxed and less concerned about spillage.
If you aren't able to remove it after all, it's best to see a doctor.
Best,
Daisy
