My period doesn't seem to be easing off. It's not to heavy and it's not to light.

Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER and thank you for reaching out to us with your concern about a prolonged menstrual period.

Is this the first time this has happened? When was your last pelvic exam and pap smear?

Have you ever been diagnosed with uterine fibroids or uterine polyps? Are you taking an anticoagulant medication, such as Warfarin? These are several factors that cause a prolonged menstrual period.

Anonymous, you must contact your gynecologist to report this. Prolonged bleeding can lead to anemia, which is a condition in which you don't have enough healthy red blood cells to carry adequate oxygen to your tissues. Bleeding causes you to lose red blood cells more quickly than they can be replaced.

Regards,
Maryann
