Thank you I will test again. .. My period usually starts on the 11th of every month and we have been trying have a baby for a while now. My period never came on the 11th this month, on October 17th I had very little spotting which only lasted like an hour then it was gone for the rest of the day and on the 18th I had spotting in the morning and during that day it got heavier. Could it be a miscarriage ? Or implant ion? I've been learning about a lot on the internet and I've read early in pregnancies some girls have one last period ? Is that true ? Thank you and I hope you reply to this. And I only used a dollarstore home pregnancy test with is only scentive at 25mil. Should I get a better test and test with that?

Hello Anonymous,

Implantation bleeding happens in some women. It is spotting, pink to brownish in color, and does not go from light to heavy. It usually happens about six to 12 days following conception. Once the fertilized egg implants, hCG is produced and can be detected in blood and urine. This hormone is produced only during pregnancy.

Repeat the test. Do buy a name brand product and check the expiration date.

Let me explain about having a period while pregnant. When you have conceived, the uterine lining remains intact. The fertilized egg implants and develops in the uterus. When you are not pregnant, the uterine lining detaches and is passed as menstrual flow.

Some women can have spotting during their pregnancy but never a full blown period. Anonymous, don't be fooled by everything you read on the internet.

Maryann

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER and thank you for your question.

I do not think you are pregnant because it sounds like you started having vaginal bleeding that progressed from light to heavy. Unless you used an early response pregnancy test on October 9, you tested too early.

Regards,
Maryann
