Pregnancy is the first reason that comes to mind when a woman has missed a period. Have you been having unprotected sex since your last period? Have you taken a home pregnancy test? If so, what were the results?
Perimenopause is another reason a woman could miss one or more periods. As estrogen levels fluctuate, menstrual irregularities develop. Generally, a woman begins experiencing the signs of perimenopause in her early 50s, but some women start as early as their late 30s.
A hormonal imbalance can disrupt the menstrual cycle and cause changes.
