Over dosage of Postinor 2

I took both pills in one dosage, is this dangerous or less effective? Also, what are the usual side effects after taking the pills and how soon after? I took the pills about a 17 days ago and now I'm spotting ( not heavy but blood is present). Could this be a side effect?

Hello Smile123,

There was no need to take Postinor 2 following unprotected sex on August 14 because you just finished a period and it was too early in your next menstrual cycle to ovulate.

If you are having vaginal bleeding, you are not pregnant and do not need to nor should you take Postinor2 again.

I've gotten myself into a shifty predicament. My period ended on the 10th August. On the morning of the 14th I had UPSI around 630am. By 8a I had purchased a Postinor 2 ( I was given a choice of a 2 tablet formula or a single dose formula I opted for the single, because I was told its the same both were marked Postinor2) Sunday 19th August while being intimate we noticed bleeding (like a period) the foooool ijaculated inside of me AGAIN (I'm so pissed I can't talk to him. I wants to get pregnant I do not. He doesn't know I took the first Postinor) The bleeding has continued like a menstrual but I want to take another dosage. Do I need to? Or should it be ok. My next period (w/o the irregularity) is due 5th September. Please help.

Hello Anonymous,
The directions for taking Postinor-2 properly state:
•Take one tablet as soon as possible (but no later than 72 hours) after you have had unprotected sex.
It is important to take the second tablet 12 hours (and no longer than 16 hours) after the first tablet.
If you are late taking the second tablet, (more than a 16 hour gap), take it as soon as you remember and contact your doctor, nurse, pharmacist or family planning clinic for advice as soon as possible.

There may have been a minimal chance of conception. If your period is delayed beyond one week, contact your physician. You may need to test for pregnancy.

Hello Anonymous,
If you get your period after taking Postinor 2, you are not pregnant.
Please try to relax and not be frightened. Excessive stress can cause your period to start later than normal.

If you do not get your period three weeks after taking Postinor 2, then test for pregnancy.

Hello Anonymous,

Postinor-2 is administered in two doses, spaced out at twelve-hour intervals. Should the second dosage not be administered on time, contact a physician and seek counsel on whether another round of treatment is needed.

Experiencing side effects is not indicative that the pill has worked.
If you do not get your period in the next three weeks, then you would take a pregnancy test.

Dear Maryann,

Thank you for the reply. What I meant by single dose is by taking two (2) tablet at one shot..meaning within 36hrs (as I am so scared of getting pregnant). No side effects up until now (62hrs). I had tested for possible STDs etc a while ago, and waiting for the result in next 3 days. Is there any possibility that even if I had my period, I still be getting pregnant?? Help me. I am so scared. It happen by mistake. I'm so depressed now.

Hi,
Postinor 2 is most effective if you take the first tablet within 72 hours or 3 days after having unprotected sex. The later you take the first dose the less effective the drug will be in preventing pregnancy.
