Possibility of Being Pregnant?

Hi,
I've been on Beyaz birth control pill for 3 months now, and am on the third sugar pill of my pack (there are four) and I have not gotten my period yet. The first month I had irregular bleeding for about three weeks before I started a heavy period, then the second month I started my period a day before the sugar pills started and had a very light period the next couple of days. I am vigilant about taking my pills within about 3 minutes of when my alarm goes off (with the exception of maybe two times taking it within the hour), and have not skipped any pills. I have unprotected sex and have not been worried except for this month, because of the absence of my period. I was on antibiotics for 10 days (at the very beginning of the month), during which I had no sex and for the next seven days after I had finished the antibiotic I had my boyfriend pull out, and he did not finish inside me any time. I realize there is a small chance I could get pregnant from precm, but I felt rather safe because I had been so good about taking the pill. I had one doctor tell me the antibiotic (augmentin) would not affect the pill, and another nurse tell me that it might affect it. I also realize that some women skip months while on the pill and are not pregnant, but I'm still very worried! I'm in college and have also been very stressed about exams the past couple of weeks, which could also delay a period, but do you think my chance of pregnancy is high at this point? I am planning on taking a pregnancy test if I miss this period completely. Thank you!

Hello mm1313,

Welcome to the EmpowHER community and thank you for coming to us with your concern.

Menstrual irregularities is one reported side effect of Beyaz. Since you have been taking the oral contraceptive consistently, and used the pull out method, though not as reliable as using a condom, I do not think your period is late because of pregnancy.

Stressing over exams can certainly delay the start of your period.

I concur with your decision to test for pregnancy if you do not get a period at all this month. If nothing else, it will give you peace of mind.

Best regards,
Maryann
