Q:

risk of pregnancy?

Hi, I had sex 10 days ago. For the first round it was without a condom but he did not come inside though there was pre ejaculate fluid. After he ejaculated we used a condom for the rest of the time. I have a 24 day cycle. That was on day 14.
I'm expecting my periods today and it haven't come. I'm worried. My breasts are slightly sore and my face has acne as usual pms symptoms. Nothing out of the ordinary because I feel normal.
Should I be worried? What is the risk of pregnancy? We've had unprotected sex with withdrawal before but nothing happened. Please advice.

Hello Eskay98,

Welcome to the EmpowHER community. Thank you for reaching out to us for advise.

With a 24 day menstrual cycle, your last period should have started on September 27. Is that correct?

Ovulation happens mid cycle. The first day of your period is day one. The first day of your next period is the last day of that menstrual cycle. You should have been ovulating around day 12 or October 8.

A released egg lives about 24 hours. Sperm can live between three to five days in the woman's reproductive tract.

Having unprotected sex without ejaculation and then with a condom on October 14 may not have caused you to become pregnant.

The withdrawal method is not 100% effective in preventing pregnancy.

You can wait and see if your period starts in the next few days. Or, take an early response pregnancy test. For the most accurate result, test in the morning. Use the urine when you first wake up and use the bathroom.

Keep us posted,
Maryann

Thank you so much for your reply.
My last period actually started on 26th September and was intimate on 9th October.
Please advise according to the information given.
Is my risk still low, considering October 9th was day 14 of my cycle?
And ovulation around day 10-12?
I'm stressed

Hello Eskay98,

The risk was low. He entered you without a condom around the time you were ovulating. You think he didn't ejaculate. Let's hope so. This was taking a risk.

I appreciate you are stressed, but all that you can do now is wait for your period to start or take an early response pregnancy test, since it is already late.

Regards,
Maryann
