Hello Anonymous,

No, fingering that led to a little bleeding will not cause a problem with her being able to become pregnant later on.

No, a hymen does not "seal back".

Her husband will only know if she tells him.

Regards,
Maryann

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER. I am glad you reached out to our community for the facts about the hymen, which is the "seal".

The hymen is a thin membrane that surrounds the opening to the vagina. Hymens can come in different shapes. The most common hymen in young girls is shaped like a half moon. This shape allows menstrual blood to flow out of a girl’s vagina.

The hymen can be stretched open the first time a girl has vaginal sex, which might cause some pain or bleeding.

Some people, and some cultures, believe that a woman whose hymen has been stretched open is no longer a virgin. But having a hymen and being a virgin are not the same thing.

There are other ways that a hymen can be stretched open, by inserting something into the vagina (like a tampon or a finger) riding a bicycle, or doing sports. And some girls are born with so little hymenal tissue that it seems like it was never there.

Most hymens don't fully cover the vaginal entry so that menstrual fluid can leave the body.

So, yes, fingering vigorously could possibly cause a little bleeding. But, remember, the hymen is not a seal but a thin membrane. If a hymen is stretched or torn, pain or bleeding may occurr that generally lasts for a short period of time.

I hope this is helpful to you,
Maryann
