Q:

What are the odds of me being pregnant?

I had un-protected sex on July 3 and on July 5 I had what I thought was the begging of my regular period because it seemed pretty normal flow but then it ended on July 6. I have been tracking my periods only for two month and I was scheduled to start on the 5th of August but it never came and now I am ten days late and this never really happens. I work a lot so I am always tired and I always eat like there is no tomorrow, as much as I want this to be true I am scared to take a test and be told that it is not. What are my odds that I am?

Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Thank you for reaching out to us with your concern. I can appreciate your hesitation to take a home pregnancy test. But this is the only way to know.

Levels of hCG, which is the hormone that is produced only during pregnancy, can be detected in urine about 12 to 14 days following conception. You could test now.

With a short history of tracking your periods, it is difficult to know when you ovulate and difficult to say if there was a chance for conceiving on July 3. Bleeding for one day is unusual.

Please keep us updated.

Regards,
Maryann
