Q:

Why is my period not here yet? Am I pregnant??

My period was due Wednesday, June 10th and I got my usual cramps and mood swings but no back pain (I usually get this pain/tiredness in my lower back a day before my period) but I never got my period and now it's 6 days late and cramps are pretty much gone but this morning I woke up with back pain and I don't know if it's my period coming or if I was sleeping in a weird position last night. Also, I'm a virgin but me and my boyfriend have dry humped a few times, but never up to the point of orgasm, and also, Sunday, the 14th, I gave him a few blowjobs and I don't kmow if it's possible to get pregnant from swallowing sperm. Am I pregnant or has this stress just delayed my period and will come any day? I need help, I'm 15 and can't be pregnant! Please help, thank you!

Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER. I am glad you found us and reached out with your concern.

If you have only engaged in dry humping, and not had vaginal intercourse, then you were never at risk for becoming pregnant. You cannot get pregnant by swallowing sperm.

Conception occurs when you have unprotected vaginal intercourse. The risk is high when you are in your "fertile" period, which is five days before and on the day of ovulation. There must be penetration and ejaculation.

Please try to relax, because stressing out about this can cause a delay in the start of your period.

My motherly advice is don't feel pressured to go all the way, consider the risk for STDs, especially when you are sexually active as such a young age, and be aware of the risk for pregnancy. When you feel mature enough to engage in sexual intercourse, you must use some type of birth control regularly.

Relax, your period should start soon.
