Lisa describes how she was able to handle administering herself hormones shots during during in vitro fertilization.
Lisa:
I was a little anxious for the first one, but after the first one, it was very easy. You didn’t feel it at all. You would do it right into your stomach. There's a more difficult shot that you need to take. It’s called progesterone and it’s pretty thick needle and it’s actually in oil, so it’s very thick to go through the needle and you do need somebody to physically put it into your hip each night and you needed to do that for the entire two weeks while waiting to see if the in vitro worked, plus the first trimester.
So, about 14 weeks of the progesterone oil injections each night. I suggest a lot of ice and I suggest somebody to help you because it was a very big needle and to this day, I am still numb from where those shots went in every day for 14 weeks.
