Natalie explains what it was like to meet other women with trichotillomania, who pulled their hair.
It was really nice to meet with somebody else who had my same issue with trichotillomania and hair pulling because, when you have this, this problem, you feel like you’re the only one, because most likely, everyone hides it so well, and most likely there’s not a whole lot of people in your circle of friends who are going to have the same issues.
So when I met with TK and she introduced me to a couple of her other clients who also pull, it was very liberating to be able to meet with somebody and kind of say, “Oh yeah, that’s my problem too,” or, “Oh yeah, I do that,” or “What times of day do you pull or where you do you like to pull from?” I mean, it’s kind of just having something so deep that you have in common. Even though I had never met them, I felt very connected to those people and it was just very nice because 99% of the time I am in hiding with my disorder. So, to meet somebody else and be able to talk about it was very liberating.
