Patty explains what a woman needs to know about artificial lubrication.

Patty Brisben:
I think there are many things that women need to know about lubrication. First of all, if you are looking for something that you want to use on a daily basis, if you are a woman who is sensitive, you want to use a water-based lubricant. If you are wanting to explore anal sex or water-play, what you want to do is you want to use a silicon-based lubricant.

If you are going to use a toy that would encompass the penis, such as a C-ring, you would want to use an emollient-based lubricant, one that is more of a cream-based. So there’s a lot of things that you need to know about a lubricant.

A lot of times women don’t realize that when they are taking, you know, medications, such as, even Sudafed, you know, not only is that particular medication going to dry up, you know, one orifice of your body, it’s going to have an effect on your whole body and so therefore, when you are taking different types of medications, you always want to have a good water-based lubricant.

If you are going to explore with bedroom toys, again, you always want to have a lubricant on hand because the materials on the bedroom toys itself have a tendency to dry you.
