Hi, I’m Bailey Mosier. This is your EmpowHER HER Daily Dose.
It wouldn’t be summer without a few trips to the pool. Maybe you’ll hit some water parks, a hotel pool or the pool at the local gym if you don’t have your own. But after you hear how dirty public pools are, you may reconsider.

A recent survey conducted by the Water Quality and Health Council found that one in five Americans confessed to using a public pool as a bathroom. In addition, seven in 10 admitted to skipping a shower before jumping in – which may not sound like a big deal, until you consider what they’re bringing with them: sweat, makeup, sunscreen, perfume, hair product, bug spray and dirt. All of this mix with chlorine to cause rashes and red eyes.

All too often, people substitute swimming for bathing and treat pools as a communal bathtub. It’s important to shower with soap and water before diving in and please, if you or your kids have to potty, get out and use the restroom.
